HNBA Membership

There are great advantages in being a part of a builders association, including education opportunities found locally, credibility with being involved with a professional association, networking and idea sharing with others in the industry, advantageous marketing opportunities exclusive to members, and special events such as the annual Parade of Homes and Home Show. As a member, you will also have access to valuable services and discounts through the Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), including the lawyer-drafter construction & remodeling contracts, access to a Legal & Building Code (WI) hotline, insurance at group rates, discounts on GM vehicles, Dell and HP computers, and others. Additionally, there are exciting events throughout the year such as the annual golf outing, Texas Hold'em, and some special banquets with great networking opportunities and fun activities. Every month you will receive an e-newsletter containing information on the association and industry-related news.

The annual HNBA Installation & Awards Banquet always draws a crowd and offers great networking opportunities

Currently we hold our monthly meetings on the 3rd Thursday of the month in the evening at locations throughout the area. Meetings are a great networking opportunity; there’s no better way let other members know what products or services you have to offer than in the casual face-to-face setting of the association meeting. Most meetings also feature a guest speaker presenting educational information requested by our members. Recent topics have included DOT Requirements & Regulations, Sales & Use Tax, Tax Code Updates for Contractors, Ethics in Business & Associations, OSHA compliance, Lien Law, etc. Whenever possible, we apply for Continue Education credits from the WI Dept of Commerce for Dwelling Contractor Qualifier credential holders, making these meeting even more valuable to our members. Dinners are included in membership dues (one dinner per membership per meeting--additional attendees are welcomed and pay just $15.00 to cover dinner costs). We would like to see you there!

Annual dues are $495.00 which includes membership to the WBA of which there nearly 5000 members working to promote and preserve the American dream of home ownership, and the NAHB, “the voice of America’s housing industry.” For more information on the state and national associations, visit the Wisconsin Builders Association at www.wisbuild.org and the National Association of Home Builders at www.nahb.org.

Acceptance into HNBA is not automatic. To ensure that only true professionals join and are promoted to the public through our website and events, we follow a process prior to an applicant's acceptance. Upon receipt of an application and first year's dues, we verify that any required licensing or credentials are current, check public records for significant outstanding business-related financial claims, or recent personal felony convictions. Assuming none, the applicant is noted in our monthly newsletter and any current member who feels the applicant should not be granted membership is allowed to weigh in by explaining their reason for objection in writing by the end of the month. Assuming none, the Board of Directors officially votes on new members at the following Board of Directors meeting.
